This hand-built ceramic vessel is formed from dark, iron-rich Australian stoneware clay, producing a high-fired, earthy surface that reveals natural speckling and mottled iron blebs. The outer walls are textured with intricate hand-carved patterning, forming a dense grid of indents that catch light and shadow across the faceted form.
The structure folds inward at the top, tapering to a narrow opening framed by looped handles that lend both delicacy and strength to the form. The entire surface is washed with a soft, white finish that breaks across raised areas, allowing the speckled clay body beneath to emerge and speak.
Tactile, grounded, and architectural, this piece sits somewhere between vessel and artefact — suggesting both containment and expression.
